Toyin Abraham Ajeyemi[1] (born Olutoyin Aimakhu) is a Nigerian actress and filmmaker.[2]

Abraham was born in Auchi, a town in Edo State in southern Nigeria. But spent her early life in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State in southwestern Nigeria. She attended St Anne’s School Ibadan for her secondary school education.[3] She went to Osun State Polytechnic, Iree from 2005 to 2007, where she had her pre-national diploma, and ordinary national diploma. She obtained a higher national diploma certificate in Marketing from Ibadan Polytechnic.[4]
Career[edit]
Abraham started acting in 2003, when Nigerian actress Bukky Wright came to Ibadan to shoot a movie.[5] Abraham has made, directed, and starred in several Nigerian films including Alani Baba Labake and Ebimi ni.[6] During the 2013 Best of Nollywood Awards, Toyin Abraham was nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a Yoruba Film titled Ebimi ni, alongside Joke Muyiwa, who was nominated for Best Lead Actress in a Yoruba film titled Ayitale.[citation needed] Abraham also starred in the movie, Black Val.[7][8] Martini Animashaun, the CEO of Tinimash Entertainment, created and managed her reality show titled, Keeping Up With Toyin Aimakhu.[9][10]
In 2020, Abraham was made the ambassador for Revolution Plus Properties, a Lagos based property outfit.[11] Abraham was also made the brand ambassador for Checkers Custard Nigeria in the month of February 2022.[12]
Abraham has also directed and released numerous movies including the popular Nollywood movie, Fate of Alakada.[13]
Personal life[edit]
In 2013, Abraham got married to Adeniyi Johnson, a Nollywood actor.[14] The marriage ended in 2019.[14] Then, in July 2019, she had a traditional engagement with Kolawole Ajeyemi, an actor too and together they welcomed their first child in August 2019.[15]
She changed her name from Toyin Aimakhu to Toyin Abraham in 2016.[1] According to her, the change was her family’s decision.[1]
